This Facebook post written by my friend and former colleague Buzz Bishop captures my opinion on ROI perfectly.
Sometimes your customers are in your bulls-eye and need your product so badly, they drop everything else at that very second just for the opportunity to run down to your store and throw money at you in a fit of excitement over how awesome your marketing is (PS that has actually never happened in the history of the world, except perhaps for Apple).
In reality, for most businesses, people will react to your ad days, months, years or even generations later. It's not a bad thing -- because often, the longer people wait, the more likely they are to be loyal customers who spend a bit more money.
